You will get burn all year round in Koh Samui ;).. its a tropical island like Malaysia.

Expect monsoon season year end just like our Malaysia east coast island.

Thanks for the above information. By, the way, I left out the weather info. When in the best season or month to go snorkelling, I mean the best season to be there , and not too burning sun..hahha

The jetty to Koh Samui is call Don Sak. If you are driving then Donsak is the only one. There are 2 ferries company, Raja and Seatrans.

Chaweng beach is the most happening in Koh Samui. I stayed at Als Resort which is the next to the beach.

Hi, I am driving to the jetty to Koh Samui, may I know what is the name of the jetty? ** I am using GPS to get there**

Beside,is there any other jetty to Koh Samui if I am from Bukit Kayu Hitam?

Which part of Koh Samui more happening? I will be staying in either Ark Bar Beach Resort or The Island Resort & Spa. Please advice.

Hi, the authorization letter has to be from the car owner, it can be hand written or print out from computer. The tricky part is how to make the letter a genuine one.

If I were to do it, I will include information like name, IC, contact, car number, model, chassis or engine number etc and have it verify and certify at the police station near you.

You can draft simple letter like:

I Name/IC/Address/Telephone the car owner of Car Make/Model/Registration Number/Chassis Number/Engine Number hereby authorized Name/IC/Address/Telephone to use my car travel to “Destination” from “Date” to “Date”.

Photo copy of the owner IC will help to prove the case as well.

If you are the owner of the car, you need to bring along the Original Car Registration Card for custom clearance. ( I have seen some using photocopy but not sure if this rule will change, be safe, bring the original if you can.

If you are not the owner of the car, you need to have the authorization letter from the owner to use the car to Thailand, stated as clear as possible the owners detail and duration of the visit.

You need to purchase Thailand insurance at the border to cover 3rd party while driving in Thailand.

Please check with your Malaysia insurance company for coverage of your car in Thailand.

Hi Esther,

I am not sure how long will it take from Hatyai to Koh samui by bus.

From Hat Yai to Donsak, the jetty to koh samui is about 300+ KM, usually by thai mini bus is about 3-4 hrs. the ferry will take about 2.5hrs, thats excluding the waiting time for ferry queue.

At koh samui, the jetty is at the west side of the island where popular spot like chaweng beach is on the east side of the island, that will take another 30 mins. Be prepare to take a full day trip.

Another alternative is take bus to Surat Thani, then take ferry ( inclusive with jetty transfer ) to Koh samui.

From Hatyai to koh samui by bus , need to take how long to arrive ?
